Structural / Purlin loads

Fontana feature: Table to dropdown

Convert point loads
to equivalent
uniform loads.

Build a dropdown from a five-row loading table. Calculate bending-equivalent uniform loads from each case’s span, point load and selected arrangement.

Example question

How do Zed and Cee purlins differ, and where can I find their loading guidance?

02 / Table → calculation

Fontana feature: Table to dropdown

Create a dropdown
from the loading table.

Add the five arrangements and their coefficients to a table. Use its rows as dropdown options and insert the selected coefficient into the load-conversion formula.

Enter the span and point load. Review the chosen coefficient, substituted formula, units and bending-equivalent uniform load.

Keep the source citation and loading diagram beside the formula.

Create the dropdown and check the conversionFontana feature: Table to dropdown

Build the dropdown from the five-row table, select an arrangement and inspect its coefficient in the calculation and result.

03 / Batch

Run the calculation
for a purlin schedule.

Enter the span, point load and loading arrangement for each roof bay. Run the rows through the same calculation and compare the equivalent uniform loads.

Review the inputs and calculated load for each case, then export the schedule.

Each row uses the same formula with its own span, point load and arrangement.

Run the roof-bay schedule

Run several cases, review the results and export the schedule.

Example outputs

A loading-arrangement dropdown, a cited conversion formula and a schedule of bending-equivalent uniform loads.

Section context and simple-span load-conversion layouts.

The calculation is a bending-equivalent load conversion. It does not check purlin capacity, support reactions or deflection.
